A couple years back some posts were made about trying to do PAT that allows inside of lan to access server using public domain name. I have been wanting to do this so I can test software that is used on web server and see it like users from outside of lan.

Has anyone done this? If so, I would really appreciate some guidance on how to do it.

    thanks

I think you are referring to this. For the internal hosts to access the server with the internal address I suppose that a DNAT rule in the PREROUTING chain to capture packets from the LAN to the public IP of the server and change the destination field to the private IP address will do.
