I’m having trouble adding the various binary folders to the $PATH

    http://comm7777.t35.com/developer.kit.pdf

look at the final instructions which say

    cd /etc/
    cat ./profile

    these instructions don’t work.
on inspection there is no /etc/profile file.

Should be noted that I restarted the machine after adding the post boot script.

Could somebody please explain how I can add entries to the profile file?

I think you have erased it accidentally.

    root@zeroshell root> cat /etc/profile
    PS1="u@h W> "
    export PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/ssl/bin:$PATH"
    alias rm="rm -i"
    alias cp="cp -i"
    alias mv="mv -i"
    alias ll="ls -l"
    cd

Well i’ve never personally deleted it manually, I followed the instructions in that tutorial, could somebody explain what exactly the post script does, and how it stops the changes made to the profile from being lost?

I can see that there are these 2 commands in the pdf

    rm -f /etc/profile
    cp -f /Database/profile /etc

from what I can read on the pdf, the guy who wrote it, forgot to copy the /etc/profile to /Database/profile. By the time you reboot, the profile was erased and there was no /Database/profile to copy it back.
That is how you accidentally erased it 😛
