We have the ongoing problem of BBC iPlayer hogging lots of bandwidth in our network. I have not found any suitable method to clearly identify iPlayer traffic as they use AKAMAI for content delivery and port 80 for the RTMP streams.
The problem gets urgent with the football worldcup on the doorstep and we think about going the other route:
Is it possible to proxy iPlayer streams so that multiple LAN clients can watch the game with only one stream going through the broadband connection?
Has anybody done this successfully ?
Thanks for any help!
