    When a local computer does a dhcp request, it sends it’s hostname.

    The service bind on the router can be configured to be automatically updated so that when another computer ping (or reverse ping) this hostname it resolves.

    It’s a very convenient feature in an office, because you can leave all your local servers in DHCP mode. Also when you use bandwidth monitoring like iftop, you know directly who’s computer is doing what.
