The flash based BBC iPlayer is causing us lots of trouble in our organizations network as it hogs lots of bandwidth.
We do not want to block iPlayer completely but would like to limit the available bandwidth so that it does not disrupt the other network traffic. The main problem is to find a way to identify iPlayer traffic in Zeroshell. Although iPlayer uses flash it does not stream through the RTMP port but through HTTP. URL blocking does not work either as the BBC uses AKAMAI for content delivery. And I could not find clear information about the IPranges they are using for iPlayer. And then there is the Air based desktop iPlayer that downloads entire movies via HTTP protocol.
Has anybody got a solution for this problem ?
