What is the formula for calculating the number of simultaneous VPN connections a router can support.

I assume that it will include Processor, Memory, Bus Speed, ISP.
I simply do not know the Formula.

I’m not aware of any such formula that exists. There’s too many dependencies that you mentioned along with hardware and software compatibility.
Are you trying to achieve a certain thresh hold?

I am trying to determined what is the max or reasonable number of VPN connections passable. That includes LAN to LAN and Host to LAN.

The unit I am running ZS on is a net5501-70 (500 Mhz CPU, 512 Mbyte SDRAM, 4 Ethernet, 2 serial, USB connector, CF socket, IDE&SATA connector, 1 Mini-PCI socket, 3.3V PCI connector).

ZS is installed on a SanDisk II Card.

I am using DSL and I do get a full 1.5 download.

I understand that there are many variables, but there must be a baseline.
I am trying to understand how do those big companies like Cisco & Nortel reach the numbers they list on there High End products.
