Do i only need an ALIX PCengine (with 500 MHz 256 MB RAM, 2 LAN, 2 miniPCI, 1 Serial and 2 USB) ? Thanks. My budget is already 500€ and I need to install a device with the next funcionalities: .- 1 FastEthernet (20 Mbps ADSL2+). .- 1 FastEthernet with 802.1q (25 VLANs). .- 35 users simultaneosly. ¿What do you recommend me? ¿Board ALIX or Standard PC? Thanks. July 10, 2008 at 7:20 pm #46613 imported_fulvioParticipant The Geode processors at 500MHz of the Alix boards are fast enough to deal with 35 users authenticated by the captive portal. Surely, the Alix is cheaper and less power waste than a standard PC, then it have not fans and therefore are more reliable.
